Jazz Weekly by George W. Harris Alexander McCabe: Cuba Bella June 15, 2023

Alto and soprano saxist Alexander McCabe brings warm melodies with Enrique Haneine/p, Chris Haney/b, Ernesto Abreu/perc and a vocal team of Robi Hager, Daniele Hager and Johnny Hager for a mix of Caribbean instrumentals and vocals. Of the former, "22" brings Haney to fore around the leader's warm alto. Robi has a warm voice on the lilting title track, while Daniele agonizes on the melancholic "No Hay Perdon." Johnny and Robi saunter on "Siempre Ella" with Daniele luscious on "Eres Mi Todo." The three vocalists create a chorus on the percussive salsa of "Little Cutie" and the team is folksy on "Ahora Soy Tan Feliz." Unassuming pleasures.
